For over thirty years the South Gippsland Citizens Advice Bureau has been helping South Gippsland residents in all sorts of ways.
WHAT THE BUREAU DOES
The Bureau:
• Provides information and help with regard to accommodation, consumer affairs, youth issues, education, leisure and recreation, transport and health; and it accesses web-based information services for clients.
• Arranges access to social workers, financial counselling and legal services.
• For clients on low incomes, taxation office trained volunteers provide assistance with tax returns.
• The bureau has an excellent data base which can provide a vast amount of information about local services.
• The bureau’s volunteers are trained to lend a sympathetic ear to clients who need to talk to someone who has the time to listen.
• The bureau through its Centrelink agency (10 am to 1 pm only) can help with benefits, concessions and pensions.
The Bureau is located in the Memorial Hall complex, Michael Place, Leongatha on the corner opposite the post office, or you can call (03) 5662 2111
The bureau also auspices the Visitor Information Centre in Leongatha, at the same location.
The bureau hours are Monday to Friday, 10 am to 4 pm, but visitor information only is offered on Saturdays and public holidays (except Christmas day and Good Friday) from 10 am to 2 pm and Sundays from 11 am to 3 pm.
The bureau is free, confidential, impartial, community based and independent.
